It Begins: Street Art Battle for 2012 Elections

posted on July 21, 2011 by Gina Hong

The 2008 Presidential elections witnessed amazing street art following Obama's every move. Shepard Fairey created another icon, gallery shows were dedicated to Obama art, etc. Whether or not things will be as intense for Mr. President's re-election campaign remains to be seen, but the battle has officially begun. On N7th and Bedford Ave. in Williamsburg, of all places:

The work isn't necessarily a breathtaking piece of design, but it gets the job done--and the Republicans still got nuthin' on this.

We're excited to see what the campaign will bring out in artists: hopefully everyone will be as inspired as they were last time around, despite all the talk of the President's 'broken promises.' In the street art battle for 2012, who will win--broken promises and attempts at improvements, or those who never promise anything other than "oh, we'll never ever touch the military budget"?
