Michael Murphy (artist) - LOOK Exhibition (2011) from Vanja Srdic on Vimeo.

HD Video Production: Hamsa Brooklyn | OnLine Multimedia Workshop, Director/Cinematographer/Digital Filmmaker: Vanja Srdic.

Featuring the works of Michael Murphy, gallery nine5's current exhibition shows the artist's experimentation with new media and adventurous fusing of classical art-making techniques with digital processes and manual skills.

Murphy's wire portrait of President Barack Obama, Tension [Obama] (pictured above), received critical acclaim and was featured in TIME Magazine's December 2008 issue.

Fascinated with light, color, tone and shape, the artist strives to challenge the boundaries between the second and third dimensions, with optical illusions often employed to this end.

Allowing viewers to openly connect with the variety of images he represents, Murphy's artworks value the shock of discovery, as works of all materials come together and break apart mid-air, like the portrait installation Corey, made of recycled bullet-proof glass.
